Wind Back In Time

That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

- A.E.Houseman

I once saw a show,
Illogical right from the word go.
Seemed to make no sense,
Still enjoyed it with no pretence.
Really liked it?Yes I did,
Back then, I was a small kid.
Always happy and content,
even with just a cent.

Chatting on the makeshift matchbox phone
Listening to the sea at home,
With the sea shell glued to the ear,
Nothing else but moms so called ghosts to fear.
Making bubbles in the air,
Building sand castles with care.
Everything in this world was fine.
Everything in this world was mine.

From contentment to resentment,
From happiness to unhappiness,
From candy to brandy,
From sheer joy in rain,
To hiding tears in rain.
Wish i could just revind,
The sweet childhood left behind.
Isn't it strange,
When times have changed,
You are still the same,
But the child within has begun to wane.

Supposedly growing mature,
Still so lost and unsure.
It was better then,
When days were spent in admiration,
Never an unwilling obligation.
When fights were fought often,
But only to be forgotten.
With no baggage from past,
When bitterness would never last.
When the best gift was a smile,
Sorrows never walked the aisle.
Bygone days I shall part,
But will remain a kid at heart.
